Callaway Fitting Week is nearly here!
In the golfing industry, there are a couple of great products being released in February including the much anticipated Callaway XR 16 range. It's already proved to be a massive hit (pardon the pun!) on Tour and if you're serious about wanting to improve your driving distance you really must give this a go!
If that isn't enough to tempt you, we will also have one of Callaway's best tech guys with us on Wednesday, 17 February offering his expertise to Tyrrells Wood members. The Fitting Day will run from 3-8pm sessions are by appointment only and available to you on a first-come first-served basis. Chris, Jo & I will also be on hand during the afternoon and evening if you'd like to pop in and see what all the fuss is about.
More details to follow, but if you'd like to beat the queue then just click here to book your fitting session.
The dream is over!
It pains me to tell you this but my ambition getting my name on a Competition Board at Tyrrells is over for another year. Last Sunday, the Cameron Cup (the Captain & Pro Challenge) saw a challenge from Dave Tennant and Simon Winslade which ended in a 3&2 loss. It was a very up and down match, my golf was a little rusty and I was no help to the Captain in the first 3 holes, we were three down by then! I redeemed myself a little with a couple of birdies to finish the front nine and get the match back to all square but Dave and Simon were too good for us on the back nine. An excellent three (nett two) on the 13th followed by a four (nett three) on the 14th from Dave, as followed by Simon closing the match out on the 16th with a three (nett two). I won't lie, I was gutted! Truth be told, I still am a little now.
The only thing that has cheered me up is the knowledge that next week I'm fortunate enough to be playing a Pro-Am……. In Phoenix, Arizona! Included in the trip are tickets to watch the USPGA Phoenix Open, they call it 'The greatest show on grass' - you've gotta love the Yanks! Hopefully my golf will be up to the challenge.
What are you doing to improve your golf this year?
The last few weeks I have been writing about the importance of goal setting in improving your game. I haven't met anyone yet who doesn't want to improve his or her game, whether it's hitting the ball further or becoming a better putter. It's important to remember that no matter how you perceive your ability, ANYONE can learn to get better. Golf is made up of lots of skills; no one is a 'natural' putter or a 'natural' bunker player. These are all skills that anyone can learn and get better at. But it's important to remember that learning a new skill takes time and perseverance, real learning looks like this.
