Hello golfers,
We've been extremely busy in the Pro Shop this week (and not just because Chris has been golfing in Spain!). A new wall has been put up in preparation for some new ladies and men's golfing gear but we're a little undecided as to which we're looking forward to the most! Jo is counting down the days until the Skechers golf shoes arrive and I can't wait for next weekend when our Under Armour 'store-in-store' gets here - it's going to be an exciting month!
Speaking of which, we just launched our first ever Bag Trade-In. The deal is simple, just trade-in your old bag for up to £30 OFF a brand new bag (selected bags only). The above Lynx stand bag could be yours for just £49! But hurry, this offer is available whilst stocks last!
The ever-popular Titleist 4-for-3 campaign has just started where when you buy three dozen or more Pro V1/x golf balls, you get one dozen for FREE!
What's better is that they're personalised too!

The Summer Knockout competition book is now OPEN! Please make sure you get your name down as early as possible to avoid disappointment. If you do enter the knockouts this year, please make sure you keep Sunday, 25 September free as it's Finals Day!
Following on from the recent Captain's Committee meeting, it was agreed that the afternoon Roll-Ups start times will change back to 12:30pm from this Saturday. You have been warned!
After our second loss of Nigel's Captain's year, it was nice to get back to winning ways at the weekend and, if I'm being honest, it was especially nice as it was against the formidable pair of Mark Baron and Mike Scott! On a bitterly cold Sunday morning, the Captain and I played very well together and luckily caught Mike and Mark on a rare off day. The Captain closed the match out on the 13th green for a 6&5 win.
Want to hit it further this March?
With April and the Masters only a few weeks away, there has never been a better time to add some valuable yards to your game. If you could pick your ball up and move it 10 yards further down the fairway, how much of a positive impact would this have on your game?
This month my focus is on how you can add extra distance to your game.
In order to improve the distance you hit the ball, you need to understand where you are starting from. For example, I know that my ball speed with a driver is 142.5mph and I carry the ball approximately 225 yards. There are a number of factors which will affect how far you hit the ball, but a there are couple of big factors that can make getting those extra yards much simpler than you may think. Ball speed and strike are those big factors - if you can get the ball launching off the middle of the clubface faster, you will gain more distance.
Throughout March I have a coaching package designed to help you gain those valuable extra yards. Starting with a 30-minute assessment, we will record your current ball speed, carry distance and strike pattern and put together a plan tailored to you to help you start improving these areas. But hurry! There are only 10 of these packages available!

Stevenson Cup Update
On a very frosty Monday morning, Stuart Jackson and I had another of our Stevenson Cup matches, this time against Martyn Jones and Steve Grimshaw. The match was fairly close all the way round with only a hole or two separating us throughout. Stuart made a great three (nett two) to win the 16th and put us 2 up with two to play but a fantastic up and down out of the bunker on 17 from Steve ensured the match went up the 18th. Thankfully we won the 18th to ensure a 2up win.
Ladies Introductory Roll-Up
On Monday, 29 February we held our first ladies introductory roll-up. The day was attended by eight lady beginners who have been attending ladies beginner classes since October. Six Tyrrells ladies, including Ladies Captain Marie Munt and Surrey County Development Officer Caroline Hardy-Evans, were on hand to take the ladies out on the course for a few holes. For some of the ladies it was their first ever experience on the golf course. Getting people on the golf course early is a great way to encourage new golfers into the game; we even had coffee and cupcakes after the game!
The next 10 days at Tyrrells
Tue 1 Mar - Many congratulations to all of the ladies who battled some terrible conditions to play their De Stacpoole Flag Competition this week. It was won by Pam Tuke who got as far as he 18th green with the flag, well played Pam!
