Many congratulations to Jackie Kingswell who has qualified for the final of the Surrey Ladies County Golf Association (SLCGA) Inter Club Champions Gold Medal. This is an individual, scratch matchplay competition for all 2015 Club Champions. You can see how well Jackie has done by clicking here. The final is due to be played at Worplesdon Golf Club on the 2nd October. Good luck & play well Jackie!
This Sunday also sees Tyrrells Wood compete in the semi-final of the Warren League away to Betchworth. Good luck to the team of Rob Cullen, Pat McEnaney, Stuart Hood, Gilbert Gehrmann, Sean Griscti, Paul Gallagher, Adam Wieckowski, Geoff Hubbard, Steve Marrion and Chris Miller.
With Finals Day taking place this Sunday from the 1st tee, please note that the 10th is open for all 7-day members who would like to play casual golf between 8am and 9:15am. It would be great to see you here to watch and support the finals finish. We have a total of nine finals being played, which out of 13 isn't too bad. Possibly the lure of complimentary lunch hosted by the captain is paying off? Please click here for the list of finals that are being played.

Winter Improvement Packages
As the season draws to an end, ask yourself how satisfied have you been with your golf this year.
Have you reached the targets you had at the start of the year?
Any golfer, whether they are new to golf or a professional, will want to get better and keep improving. Don't be the golfer who puts the clubs away at the start of Winter and barely gets them out again until Spring. Use this time to make a meaningful change to your game, ensuring you spend the Summer enjoying your golf instead of not struggling with that slice or wasting shots on the greens.

It's been a fantastic year for Callaway. Their success on tour has been amazing and the XR family has been the shop's best performing clubs this year. When I heard the new XR irons and hybrids were on their way, which had even better performance, I was a little sceptical...that was until I hit them. Wow! If you're looking for a great performing iron and an excellent hybrid then you really must try these out.
As always we have the full demo equipment available for you so that we can make sure the club is perfect for you. Please click here for more information on this range.
A pattern is developing in the Cameron Cup, and it's not a good one! I'm getting a little fed up reporting of how we play the Captain & Pro challenges - we tend to start well, lose it in the middle, try to recover at the end but by then it's too little too late and so we lose the match 3&2. Unfortunately, our most recent challenge against Steve Marrion & Steve Thorn is going to have exactly the same theme. Both Steve's played very well with Mr Marrion particularly finding form on the front nine to put them 2 up. My little pep talk with the captain at the halfway hut clearly paid off as we managed to lose the following two holes!
4 down, great. Here we go again!
You can guess the rest, a mini-fightback from us ensued but both Steves weren't going to let the match slip, closing it out on the 16th hole for, yes, you've guessed it, a 3&2 win. That's now our third straight 3&2 loss in a row. Even the captain made the point that the qualifiers for the Cameron Cup this year might be a bigger competition than the Winter League - I really hope not!
If you're a little low on confidence at the moment and would like an easy match whereby you'll probably win 3&2 then look no further; the Captain & I have just two more challenge dates available!
Mon 17 Oct at 11:00am
Sun 30 Oct at 8:30am
These are available on a first-come first-served basis so come and see me in-store ASAP. Please be gentle with us.
The entry book for this year's Winter League is closing soon, please don't miss out on the opportunity to play. Just click here for the format & rules. The closing date is Sunday, 2 October. We currently only have half the number of entrants compared to last year! If you don't have a partner then fear not, please contact me as I'm pretty good at playing matchmaker.
