Hilliard league update from Mark Crompton 

It's not been good as previous years, but we are still in with a chance of a semi-final spot after our latest win against Cuddington, 2-1. With two home matches against Wimbledon Park and Addington to come in July we could get to 10pts. Other recent results:

- Betchworth (A) lost 2-1 
- Kingswood (A) Halved 
- Purley Downs (H) Halved 

Current position P6 W2 H2 L2


 

Stevenson Cup

Last Sunday saw myself and Alan take on Andy Lucey and Warren Burton in what was to be another tough match. We quickly found ourselves 1 down after Andy's great approach into the 2nd set up a birdie. They then doubled that advantage on the 5th after a steady par from Andy, before a nice birdie from myself on the 6th which would get us one back. Warren then made a very nice par on the 7th for a nett birdie, forcing me to have to chip in for the half! A great approach into the 8th from Warren moved them 2 up, which was how they would finish the 9. 

They would manage to hold that advantage until the 13th, after four relatively poor tee shots, Andy sensibly put himself back into position before winning the hole with a 5 nett 4. Alan and I were beginning to think that this wasn't going to be our day, which was then confirmed after Andy holed a superb 25 footer to salvage a 4 nett 3 and move them dormie 4 up. They would comfortably go on to see out the match on the 15th for a 5&3 victory which they fully deserved, well played gents! 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Warren & Andy for their generous donations to the Captain's Charity. We very much enjoyed your company.


 

The Cross Country Competition is back!  

Good luck to all who have signed up to play in the Ebrahim Trophy this Friday, it's a great format and lots of fun. I'm sure you'll all enjoy playing the course like never before! There are still a few places available so please contact the Pro Shop if you'd like to add your name. Entry fee is £10 per person which includes prizes and a one course meal after your golf. It's a fun, informal competition and online entry opens today! We'd love to see you on the day.
