Cameron Cup Updates
As we’re getting close to the end of Steve’s Captains year, our challenges are coming thick and fast. We were faced with two very difficult matches last week, the first of which against Matt Ellis and Dave Tennant. We didn’t get off to the best of starts as we were 2 down after four holes, thankfully we then managed to play the next 8 holes in nett 6 under par and found ourselves 4 up standing on the 13th tee. Any plans of an early celebration were dashed as Matt and Dave comfortably won the next 3 holes leaving me a little concerned standing on the 16th tee, but I needn’t of worried as the Captain made an excellent 3 nett 2 to close out the match for a 3&2 win. Thank you gents for your company on the golf course and in the bar afterwards! Plus the generous donation to the Captains' Charity. Things weren’t going to get any easier as for our next challenge as we were up against Gideon September and Andy Lucey (Cameron Cup winners 2015!) We did manage to get off to a much better start, in fact after 9 holes we found ourselves 2 up. After a halve on the 10th, out of nowhere we lost the next four holes in a row after some excellent play from Gideon and Andy. Steve did win the 16th to get the match back to 1 down with two holes to play, but again Gideon and Andy stepped up and both made 4 nett 3’s on the 17th to close out the match 2&1. It was a tough match, we had our chances but things just didn’t go our way on the day. Thank you, once again gents for your company and generous donation to the Captains' charity.
