The perfect start in the Cameron Cup Club Captain Alan Jagger and I got our Captain and Professional matches underway last week with our first challenge from Ian Davidson and John Bone, who I later found out have only lost one Winter League match in 3 years! This could be tricky. But fear not, luck was very much on my side as we played the 1st hole. After I pulled my drive into the left rough, I had a pretty awful lie, on a downslope over a bunker to a tight flag. I wasn’t looking forward to the shot and hit it really fat. However, my ball had other ideas as it bounced over the bunker onto the green and into the hole for an eagle 2! I played the rest of the front nine fairly well making 3 birdies and Alan and I were 4 up at the turn. To be honest, I may have well stayed in the halfway hut as I don’t think I helped Alan at all on the back 9. However, I’m happy to say he more than handled it and with a couple of crucial putts seeing out the match for a 3&2 win. Our unbeaten run begins! Thank you very much Ian and John for your company on and off the golf course, plus a very generous donation to the Captain’s Charity.
