Welcome to this week's newsletter bringing you all the latest news from the club, including a fantastic response to my request for help from members, we have our Ladies Club Champion crowned and we recap a very successful Captain's Day. Enjoy the read. |
The response was fantastic!
A massive thank you to everyone who replied to my newsletter last week, the response was fantastic. So much so I had to draw out of a hat 5 members who are going to take part in my experiment. I’ll share my findings with you once all the sessions have taken place.
I’m hopeful it will give you an insight of how you can enjoy your golf and maybe play a little better at the same time. |
Could he do it?
Golf’s second major of the year is upon us and what a fascinating week it’s set to be at Shinnecock Hills in New York. It's the fifth time that the American links has held the U.S Open, and the course is an absolute brute measuring nearly 7,500 yards, including a 252-yard par-three.
Keep a lookout for Phil Mickelson as he looks to complete the career Grand Slam at a course where he's finished second in the past. |
Well done Jackie!
Many congratulations to Jackie Kingswell who won the Ladies Club Championship last weekend. The Gordon Cup is a 36 hole scratch competition and Jackie won by four shots from Allyson Local. Our Ladies’ Captain, Lesley Dudgeon won the Nett prize. Please click here for the full results. |

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the key to unlocking lower scores lies in improving your short game. Having the correct technique is one part of the journey to achieving this. The other is making sure your wedges are the correct grind and bounce for your swing, as well as having a set of wedges that are evenly gapped to cater for any distance. |

50% of you are like the first graphic If you’re working hard to get your handicap down, it really will pay off to dedicate more of your practice time to your short game and the shots you need to improve in the scoring zone. As you can see with the graphics above, the wrong wedge set-up can lead to an awkward 35-yard gap and more difficult half shots, which is why we always recommend a gapping session or fitting.
With Lynx you have plenty of options, including this popular Prowler wedge, which comes in four different lofts between 48° and 60°. It means whether you’re looking for a two, three or four wedge set-up in your bag, we can get your yardages gapped perfectly. |
