Cameron Cup update...
Last week the Captain and I were challenged by the very competitive pair of Gary Ward and Sean Griscti. I’ve had some very close games against these two over the years, so we knew it was going to be tough. But before we get to the match itself, there was the small issue of our tee time, 09:00. Most of us would make sure we’d arrive on time especially when you’re playing with the Club Captain. Some of us might even have a warm up; see my experiment results for more info! Not many would’ve completely forgotten they were playing… unless your name is Gary Ward! Sean finally got hold of Gary who eventually turned up and we finally teed off at 09:30 with Gary almost birdieing the 1st. The first few holes were close and then Sean and Gary won the 7th, 8th & 9th to get to the turn 3 up. Gary’s tee shot on the 9th almost went into the hole, I won’t tell you where it pitched or which bunker it jumped over… but you get the idea. He just had to settle for a 2 nett 1. There was no let up from them after the turn despite our best efforts we couldn’t get close enough to them. They eventually won the match 3&1 on the 17th green to end our unbeaten run. Both Gary and Sean played very well and were just too good for us on the day. Thanks for your company, for turning up eventually Gary, but most of all thank you for the generous donation to the Captain’s Charity. |
