Welcome to this week's newsletter.
There’s been no let up from the weather the course is still playing well. The fairways are fast and firm but the greens are still nice and green, and are rolling really well. It’s not a bad combination with some great scores in roll ups and competitions. Enjoy this week’s read.

You heard it here first...
The Open is being played this week at Carnoustie with all the players currently trying to work out how to play the golf course, so it should make for an interesting week. As for the winner.... it’s going to be Rickie Fowler - remember you heard it here first! Thank you to everyone who has popped into the Pro Shop this past week. It was really nice to hear some positive feedback from my warm up experiment last week.
Although there were few comments that the practice nets were too busy!

PING has managed to do it again... The company who pushed the boundaries with their early designs has produced one of the best irons I’ve seen for a long time.
The i500 is a beautiful looking iron which offers consistent ball speed with forgiveness and rather than just cranking the lofts to make you think you’re hitting it further this iron is available in three loft options. Well done PING! If you’re looking for some extra distance or control then these irons are a must try!

Not quite on our ' A games'...
This Tuesday saw Tyrrells member Mike Saunt and I play the Old Course at Walton Heath in the PGA Lombard Trophy after Mike won the Tyrrells qualifier to play in the event. Unfortunately, neither of us had our ‘A games’ and finished in a creditable 38th position out of 73 pairs. I very much enjoyed playing golf with you Mike and the lunch was fantastic!

Stevenson Cup report from Chris
Monday afternoon saw the Vice Captain and I take on Steve Hunt & Paul King in only our 3rd match of the year. We were hoping to keep our little unbeaten run going and managed to get off to the perfect start by winning the first hole. We extended our advantage on the 3rd after a superb birdie from the Vice Captain, he would then follow that with two nett birdies on the 5th and 6th holes to move us 4 Up. It would get worse for Paul & Steve on the 7th, after I duffed my first chip, I managed to chip in at the second attempt for a birdie to move us 5 Up which is how we stood at the turn. A nice birdie from myself on the 10th moved us 6 Up before Paul & Steve managed a mini fight back after consecutive nett birdies on the 11th and 12th.
However, it wouldn’t be enough as we eventually closed out the match on the 15th for a 5&3 victory to carry on our unbeaten start. I would like to this opportunity to thank both Paul & Steve for the game and there generous donations to the Captains Charity.
Thank you gents!

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it effortlessly easy to push so you remain full of energy to the end of your round. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot with ease (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. If the white frame in this photo isn't to your liking, the IQ+ 360 is also available in black as well as black and red. |
