Long may it continue!
What a week it’s been, the unseasonal warm weather has been fantastic. It even inspired me to get me out on the golf course. I’ve been working a little on my game over the past few weeks in preparation for my upcoming Cameron Cup matches. Another reason for the practise is that I’ve been very fortunate to have been offered a full playing contract with Titleist. I’m really looking forward to playing their clubs and golf ball this year. In fact, I’m like a kid at Christmas I really can’t wait to get my hands on them! To see more information on my new irons, please click here.

Are we too hard on ourselves?
Thanks to all who replied to my question last week. As much as changing your putter can help you improve your scores quickly, you just need to look at the popularity of this model of Odyssey Putter, their #7 model. It has a distinct shape but the real advantage is the technology behind it to make it one of the most forgiving putters on the market. However, alongside new technology managing your expectation is also a way of improving your scores and so back to my question last week.... |
What percentage of 8 foot putts do you expect to hole? Now it’s fair to say the answers were rather varied, ranging from 10 to 80%. However the average on the PGA Tour is just 50%.
That’s right, some of the best players in the world, who play and practice every single day, playing on some of the best greens in the world only hole half of their eight foot putts. So the stats tell us the Tour Pro average is 50%, a scratch golfer is 41% and an 18 handicapper is 27%. Maybe we should all remember that the next time we miss an eight footer, it might just help us enjoy the game a little more.
