Cameron Cup
Another week saw our third Captain and Pro challenge. This week we were up against the Lee brothers and I knew whatever happens it was going to be good fun. The Captain was ‘recovering’ from the previous day as he watched his beloved West Ham become the first team to win at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although he assured me he wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol – I’m not so sure. The match got started pretty quickly with a couple good putts holed on the 2nd green by Frank and myself to halve the hole. The Captain then got in on the act with an amazing (some may say fortunate) approach to the third which hit the flag and finished within gimmie distance. We managed to hold onto the lead and made it to the turn two up. We definitely dodged a bullet as after an excellent approach to the 10th Terry narrowly missed his birdie putt. However, he more than made up for that playing the 12th extremely well to win the hole. The 13th saw some of the best approach shots of the day as the Captain hit a great shot to 15 feet followed by Frank with probably the shot of the day to just 8 feet. I won’t mention the Captain’s first putt but I’m happy to say the hole was halved in 4 nett 3s. After some steady golf to finish the back nine we managed to see the match out winning on the 17th green 2&1. Thank you to Frank and Terry for your company on and off the course and the generous donation to the Captain’s charity. So, after three matches we’re undefeated, I did tell you new irons will improve your golf!
