Welcome to this week's newsletter bringing you all the latest news from around the world of golf and at Tyrrells Wood, last week's competition winners as well as what's going on in-store. Enjoy the read.

Have you seen this man?

Has anyone seen Shane Lowry since his victory last week? My twitter timeline seems to be full of videos of him celebrating in Ireland, and as the newly-crowned Champion golfer of the year who can blame him.

There were two more golfing Majors played last week with Ko Jin-Young winning the Evian Ladies Championship and her second Major of the year while the seemingly ageless Bernhard Langer winning the Seniors Open Championship at Lytham and St. Annes.

Brooks Koepka once again showed his dominance in the men’s game as he completely out played Rory McIlroy in the final round to win a cool 1.7 million dollars in the WGC Fed Ex St Jude Invitational.

Plus one for the future, a young tour pro called Collin Morikawa won a PGA Tour event last week – remember where you heard this name first, he’s going to be awesome.

Green staff has priority…

Green staff has priority…

Please bear in mind next week is our large course maintenance week.

Craig and his team will be scarifying and solid tinning greens and approaches. During the week all green staff have priority, so if they’re working on a hole please pick up and move to the next hole.

It probably goes without saying but next week isn’t the ideal time to play a match – you have been warned! The course will be closed until 10am on Monday morning after this time the 1st tee only will be available to start.

Cameron Cup update...

After losing our last two challenges the Captain and I were keen to change the momentum although our latest challenge against Damian Connolly and Phil Anderson wasn’t going to be easy.

If the first hole was anything to go by we were going to need to be at our best as 3 out of the four ball made a birdie. In fact, there were 6 birdies in the first 5 holes from the four of us.

Thanks to some decent play from the Captain and I we managed to get to the turn 3up, but having not played the back nine very well in our last few matches we knew we needed to keep the pressure on.

Thankfully, I made a decent start birdieing the 10th only for Phil to birdie the 11th, meaning we were back to 3 up. A win on the 12th was quickly followed by a loss on 13, but with the Captain hitting an excellent approach to the 14th he managed to halve the hole and, after a win on 15th, we had managed to win the match 4&3.

Thank you Damian and Phil for your company on and off the golf course and for the generous donation to the Captain’s charity.

Pro’s Day is open to ALL members...

Please save another date for your diary as on Sunday 15th September will be my Pro’s Day. The format this year will be an individual stableford competition with a shotgun start at 08:30 and a hog roast for all competitors after golf, all for the usual £4 per person entry fee.

We’ll also have an amazing prize table plus a scorecard raffle where the lucky winner will win a custom fitted set of Titleist irons. Jo, Chris and I will also be on the start sheet, so if you’d like to play with one of us please sign up online in the usual way.

A ball for every occasion

Let’s be honest: we're greedy when it comes to our golf ball, and rightly so. We don’t want to have to choose between distance or feel; instead, we want a ball that offers us the lot so we get maximum help on every shot.
