Stevenson Cup Reports from Chris This week saw Chris Harland and I take on two tough challenges. First up were Phil Anderson and Brent Hearne. In what were some pretty grim weather conditions, Phil made an excellent birdie on the 1st to win the hole, before the Vice Captain won the 2nd after making an equally impressive 4 nett 3. We would halve the 3rd in birdies after a fairly dodgy chip in from myself, cancelling out Brent’s birdie. After a tight front nine, Chris and I managed to reach the turn 1 Up.
Onto the back nine, and at this point the rain was getting increasingly heavy to the point where the greens were starting to flood. However, Brent assured us that it was going to improve so we decided to venture on. The weather did indeed improve, and so did Brent’s golf, a 4 nett 3 on the 11th was good enough to win the hole, moving the match back to all square. We looked certain to win the 13th with Brent staring at a 20 footer to halve the hole, which, unfortunately for us, he managed to make before another impressive putt on the 14th won the hole, moving Phil & Brent 1 Up. Chris and I tried to get ourselves back in the game but Phil & Brent played some very steady stuff on the closing holes and eventually closed out the match on the 17th for a 3&1 victory. I’d like to thank both Phil & Brent for their pleasant company, and also for their generous donations to the Captain’s Charity. Well played gents!
