Cameron Cup Update
The Captain & I played in two challenges this past week. Sunday morning saw us take on the formidable pair of Damian Connolly and Phil Anderson. After nine holes everything was looking good, the sun was shining and thanks to the Captain's putter, we were 3 up! Unfortunately (for us), Damian and Phil played some fantastic golf on the back nine with Damian making a three (nett two) on the 13th and Phil making the same score on the 17th meaning they eventually won the match 1up.
Now, I can't lie, after that match I was gutted! And so after arriving home and still in a foul mood, it was 'suggested' that maybe I go and walk the dog with Freddie and maybe I'll come back in a better frame of mind! I couldn't argue and so Freddie and I took Millie (our dog) to the local park which just happened to have had a football match played on it that morning. The pitch was covered in mud, you could hardly see the white lines and there were puddles everywhere but this didn't put us off, we carried on regardless and I even began to cheer up. Until that is, after running, in my wellies and at full speed towards the goal to score what would have been the most amazing goal, I fell over! Now when I say fell over, I mean I properly fell over, head over heels, arms and legs everywhere, into the biggest puddle of mud you've seen! Freddie though it was hilarious, I haven't seen him laugh so much. I was soaked, covered in mud and had to strip off to get back into the car, not a pretty sight!!! I thinks it's fair to say, I've had better days!!
After drying out, the following day the Captain & I faced another tough match, this time challenged by Peter Meechan and Stuart Jackson. Unfortunately (for them), they caught me on a good day and by the time we shook hands on the 12th green I had made seven birdies. Now where was that standard of golf the day before!?
Chris and I have added some extra challenge dates and so if you'd like to challenge us please sign your name up in the men's changing room:
December - Sun 7th at 8.30am; Wed 10th at 10.30am; Mon 15th at 10.30am
January - Sun 25th at 8.30am
February - Wed 4th at 10.30am; Sun 15th at 8.40am; Mon 16th at 10.30am
March - Sun 1st at 8.40am; Thu 5th at 10.30am; Wed 18th at 10.30am
I hope you've had the opportunity to see the new 9th tee, it's nearly trebled in size and will make such a difference when playing the hole. Whilst the new turf is settling in please can we ask all members to use the matt provided when teeing off.
