Cameron Cup update I was really looking forward to playing another Captain and Pro Challenge after over a month since our last match, although it wasn’t going to be easy as we’d been challenged by Malcolm Allan and Matt Gore.
Malcolm got the game off to the perfect start with a birdie on the first (the less said about my tee shot the better) and after Matt won the second with a 4 nett 3 things weren’t looking good. An excellent up & down via the flag on 3 and long birdie putt on 4 from the Captain got us back to just one down. We quickly lost the 5th and if it wasn’t for the Captain playing the 8th & 9th very well we could’ve been in deep trouble. As it was we managed to get to the turn all square.
Thankfully our golf improved a little on the back nine, in which he halved every single hole. The highlight was the 17th where Matt and the Captain both made 3 nett 2’s, although we all know who’s birdie was the better one! After four pars on the last the match finished all square. Both pairs had their chances to win the match, but all in all it was probably the right result. I struggled with my golf all day, I lost two balls and was the only player in the fourball not to make a birdie, that’s what a holiday will do for my golf! Despite my play I thoroughly enjoyed the game, thank you Matt and Malcolm for your company a donation to the Captain's Charity and thank you Captain for carrying me around all day. |
