Cameron Cup update
Following on from my dismal display in last week’s Captain and Pro match, I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen in our next challenge. We were up against the two Steves, Marrion and Thorn, and so whatever happened, I knew it was going to be entertaining. My tee shot on the 1st was a dramatic improvement from last week - I could find my ball for a start! Thankfully it was just short of the green and after a nice chip, I’d made a birdie. We had only played one hole and I’d made more birdies than last week! The Captain kept up his good form and, despite an excellent birdie on the 5th from Steve Marrion followed by an outrageous chip from out of the trees on 6 to a foot and another win, we managed to get to the turn 3 up. All four of us played some good golf on the back nine. Steve Marrion almost got off to the perfect start - he lipped out for an eagle 2 on the 10th. More birdies followed in an exciting back nine but we managed to keep our advantage. The Captain, who after a brilliant tee shot on 16, closed the match out with a birdie two for a 4&2 win. We worked out afterwards we’d made 13 birdies between us in the match. Thank you gentlemen for a great game and your very generous donation to the Captain's charity. |
