Well, it wasn’t quite the weekend of sport we were hoping for......unless you’re South African. I’m not the biggest rugby fan but even I got into the World Cup and was full of hope after England’s semi-final performance but unfortunately, things just didn’t go their way in the final. Sport can be tough sometimes. It’s been an interesting few weeks in the world of golf with Tiger back in the winner’s circle and an impressive win by Rory last week. With Phil Mickelson appearing to go the other way. Can you believe he dropped out of the World top 50 for the first time since Nov 1993? What an amazing run. Whilst I’m always impressed with the talent and dedication of players like Rory, Tiger and Phil it was another winner from last week that really caught my attention, Brendon Todd. Who? I hear you ask, well let me explain... After some early success, a win on Tour, nearly making the Ryder Cup team and breaking onto the top 50 in the world he started to struggle with his game, suffering from what he called ball-striking yips. By September last year, he was questioning to continue playing competitive golf. His World ranking had dropped outside the top 2000 and he’d just missed the last 37 out of 40 cuts. Anyway, after some extremely hard work and dedication, last week he shot 62 in the final round of the Bermuda Championship to win again on the PGA Tour gaining a full exemption through to 2022. Sport can be great sometimes. |
