If like me you enjoy watching golf on the TV then read on, as you may need a reality check. We regularly watch the Tour pros shoot twenty-something under par to win golf tournaments, they make the game I love look easy. To be honest, it’s a little disheartening when I compare my own game to theirs. However, help is on hand you see because it’s all a lie. The golfers I’m watching are the ones in contention that week I don’t get to see the guy who finished in last place playing. I read a great example of this from Lou Stagner (Golf Stat Pro) Did you know that on Tour the average proximity to the hole from shots played from the fairway from 100 yards is...wait for it...18’ 5”. Yep, that’s it. So, the next time you’re giving yourself a hard time because you’ve just hit a shot from 100 yards to 20 feet just remind yourself it’s less than two feet outside the Tour average. Golf can be an extremely hard game, maybe it’s time to give yourself a break? |
