The results were surprising
Following on from last week, I was joined by Tyrrells member David Weller to put the PING G710 through its paces. We again started off with a warm-up, you all do that right? Followed by a few hits with his 2013 TaylorMade Speedblade irons and then the new PING G710 iron. The results were again surprising, David lost distance with the new iron. This was down to two main reasons, the PING G710 iron is incredibly light, to help promote some clubhead speed but for David’s brisk tempo, it really didn’t fit. As a result, he lost any consistency of strike and as a result ultimately distance. We did get David’s distance back to what it should be working on a little bit of technique and with the right model, I’m convinced we’ll find an iron to hit the ball a little further. Hopefully, both of these results highlight the issues we’re faced with when looking to change golf equipment. That’s where using your local, PGA Professional can help you.
