This week, I was very privileged to be invited by Titleist to try their new range of woods.

The new Tour Speed range from Titleist has already gone down amazingly well on Tour with many non-contracted players such as Tommy Fleetwood putting them into play straight away, it’s a shame he didn’t putt with it.

I’ve been very happy with my current TS3 driver and although I’m generally pretty consistent off the tee I’d love more distance, wouldn’t we all? The problem I have is that my lack of distance is mainly down to my lack flexibility and strength. The way I deliver the club is fairly solid and so if I want to hit the ball further I need to go to the gym, I’m not going to find it all with a golf club…. Having said that … I was pleasantly surprised with the difference the new TS driver gave me, bearing in mind I’m comparing it to last year’s model which was also custom built for me. I gained a few precious mph of ball speed which gave me an extra 9 yards carry on average. Not a massive gain I agree, especially if you consider price tag, there won’t be much change from £500 but if your using a driver that’s over five years old this has to be on your list of new clubs to try.

Which moves seamlessly into, the range launches officially during Masters Week – 12th November but I have a Tyrrells Wood exclusive for you. Titleist will be here on Monday, 2nd November, offering you the chance to be custom fitted for BEFORE it’s officially released. Fitting slots are very limited and in high demand and so in the nicest possible way I’d ask for members who are seriously considering changing their driver and/or fairway woods to book in.

Golf's back on UK soil

When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact?

On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole.

Both storylines demonstrate the importance of putting well when the pressure's on. So, if you struggle with holing out or three-putt too many times due to poor distance control, send us a message below and we'll be happy to help.

The new World Handicap System (WHS) comes into effect on the 2nd November 2020, which is now less than a month away.

We know that many of you have questions about what it is, why it's needed and how it will impact your current handicap.

The secret to a successful winter

Practice makes perfect, right? But perfect practise gets you there a lot faster. We've said it before - and we'll no doubt say it again - but winter provides the ideal opportunity to iron out some of those faults that have crept into your game.

It starts with a list

Begin by evaluating (out of ten) how close you are to your target for each area of your game. It's always best to be completely honest with yourself when doing this. In other words, forget about the odd time when you've hit a shot like Tiger and focus on what happens consistently round after round.

The path to better iron play

Hitting an iron and finding the heart of the green feels great. However, the big change comes when you can repeat that time after time - with the odd exception, of course. Not only will your scores begin to drop, but you'll also be full of confidence every time you pull a club out of the bag.
