Well, I made it back to work having survived man flu although I'm not sure if I'm completely over it, I just think Nicky had more than enough of me being at home! It could have been worse, Aussie golfer Robert Allenby didn't have the best of times after missing the cut in the Sony Open or Tiger Woods who is now missing a tooth after watching his girlfriend skiing in Italy! All joking apart, it's great to get back to work, I really enjoy this time of year as we're busy preparing for the season and in 2015 we have a few fantastic new ranges available, including:

It's your last chance to enter the 3 W's Pro-Am

We have a few more spaces available to play in the 3 W's Pro-Am. The competition is run by the Surrey PGA and raises much needed funds for some of PGA assistants competitions later in the year. I've been a member of the Surrey PGA for over 20 years now and I'm very keen to help give something back by entering as many teams from Tyrrells as possible. Jo visits PING

Last Wednesday and Thursday I spent two days at the PING factory and the PING fitting centre at Gainsborough Golf Club. The first day was spent learning about PING and we were given a tour of the factory floor. The factory is quite impressive, all clubs are assembled on-site and once a custom fit order reaches the factory floor it takes 55 minutes to produce a ready to use set of irons. I had the chance to try my hand at loft and lie adjustments, I wasn't very good although it involved a hammer which was quite good fun! We were also shown one of Lee Westwood's gold putters and one of Bubba Watson's actual drivers. His pink G30 with a midsize grip and 12 layers of tape, set 10 degrees open is not a set up I'll be trying anytime soon!

  

The second day was spent learning the PING fitting system. We started by fitting irons and drivers with the new nFlight system. This allows you to see a direct comparison between set ups. The graphic shows your optimum launch angle and spin rate for your swing speed. Changing the shaft, flex and loft then affects your launch angle and spin rate. The graphic makes it easy to see and understand which set up works best for you. We then spent some time using the iPING putter fitting system which helps match a type of putter to your stroke, again finding a set up that fits you.

We finished our day with a tour of the Tour Truck and we went back to the factory to watch putter assembly. It was a really good two days and I'm looking forward to using the nFlight system throughout the year.
