Many congratulations to the team of David Weller, Steve Thorn, Derek Hemment and Club Captain Nigel Jupp who won the Betchworth Park Challenge Trophy last week. Played at Betchworth Park, the competition is stableford scoring with all four scores to count. David Weller won the individual prize as well!!

Not to be outdone, congratulations to the ladies team of Pam Tuke, Mary Wright, Judy Fernie and Bev Edwards who won the Betchworth Castle Trophy this week! It's a nice format, as each member plays with three members from different golf clubs. The best three scores count towards the team total which Tyrrells won! There was also a prize for the best mixed member team which Judy Fernie was part of!

Last Friday saw Tyrrells Wood host a pre-qualifying tournament for the PGA Professionals Championship which will be held at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in June. 75 golf professionals entered the qualifier (including me) with only the top 13 making it through to the Championship. I'm delighted to say that I finished in a tie for 6th position and qualified!

I can honestly say I haven't felt that nervous on a golf course for a very long time, I just didn't feel comfortable all day. However I managed those feelings well and played pretty good. I made just one bogey, a silly three-putt from 12 feet on the third, and a great birdie on the 6th hole (especially as the pin was on the back tier) along with 16 pars……. Drawn Competitions - You may be aware that competitions on a Sunday morning are almost full every week, there is even a waiting list, although there seems to one exception - drawn competitions. I'm very keen to get your opinion on these competitions and so please let me know your views here.
