Ben Taylor qualifies for The Open! Hot on the heels of his success in the NCAA Championship in America, Ben shot rounds of 70 & 67 to take one of only three qualifying places for Open Championship at St Andrews this month. I'm sure you'll join me in wishing him well! - I wonder if he'll let his Dad caddy?

The format for my Pro's Day this year will be VINTAGE GOLF!
To play with hickory clubs is an experience all golfers should have at least once in their lives, although some of you may remember using them the first time around….. Mentioning no names! To play with hickory gives us an appreciation of what it was like for the pioneers of the modern game, and enables us to appreciate how much forgiveness we are afforded by our modern equipment. That being said, with guile and the spirit of the roaring 20s within you, you'd be surprised at just what you can achieve with 100 year old clubs.
The format on the day will be:
7:45am - Coffee and full english breakfast on arrival
8:30am - Introductions, format, brief history and clubs
9:00am - Shotgun start for 9-hole pairs scramble competition
11:30am - Prizegiving
The entry fee is £10 per pair. Each pair will be provided with a set of hickory clubs to share. Entry is open to ladies and men, 6, 6.5 & 7 day members. Outfits optional - unless you work in the pro shop!
The online sign up for this competition opens at 7:00am on Friday, 10 July and because of the format spaces are limited. To avoid disappointment please sign up early. You don't need to sign up as a pair, just put your name on the start sheet and anyone can join you. You'll find that Jo, Chris, Paul and I are already on the start sheet looking for a partner!
I look forward to seeing you all on the day.
