Hello golfers, 

The Open Championship 

With the Open championship just a week away it's been a fairly traumatic week for Rory McIIroy, if you haven't heard - After a kick about with old school friends back home in Northern Ireland led to him going over on his ankle. According to his Twitter feed he suffered a "total rupture of left ATFL (ankle ligament) and associated joint capsule damage" and now is out of the Championship. This is a great shame, however if the Tour de France is anything to go by this week Rory is a 'lightweight!' 

This Monday, Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara crashed heavily, CT scans later showed he had fractured two vertebrae and had to withdraw from the race - but not before he had finished the last 30 miles of the stage!! 

When Paul met Lee 

Many congratulations to Tyrrells Member, Paul Milner who won my Foremost Competition to meet Lee Westwood. The day was held at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club and sponsored by FootJoy. After a welcome breakfast the competition winners were treated to a golf clinic by Lee followed by a round of golf.

The format on the day will be: 
07:45 Coffee & full English breakfast on arrival 
08:30 Introductions, format, brief history & clubs 
09:00 Shot Gun start for 9 hole pairs scramble competition 
11:30 Prize Giving 
 
The entry fee is £10 per pair 
Each pair will be provided with a set of hickory clubs to share 
Entry is open to LADIES & MEN 6, 6½ & 7 day members 
Outfits optional - unless you work in the Pro Shop! 

You don't need to sign up as a pair, just put your name on the start sheet & anyone can join you. 
You'll find Jo, Chris, Paul & myself are already on the start sheet looking for a partner!

More Tyrrells Success 

Congratulations to Trevor Steer & Adrian Welch who beat Roehampton GC last week to reach the semi-final of the east section of the Kelso Hamilton County Knockout (the same stage they made last year). Let's hope they make it to the final this year! 

Mens Invitation Update 

I'm pleased to say the Mens Invitation WILL GO AHEAD on Sunday 26th July. Thank you to all who have now entered ……. However we still have a few spaces available! Please contact the office if you would like to invite a guest to play. 

The Tyrrells Summer Party 

Tyrrells will be hosting its annual Summer Party - 6.30pm, Saturday 8th August 2015. 
Join us for an evening of live entertainment and international cuisine ITALIAN | SPANISH | GREEK | CHINESE. Tickets are £30 each which includes a complimentary drink on arrival. House wine will be available at £10 per bottle.
