Last week was a very busy week of sport. GB&I won the Walker Cup and regained the trophy with their highest ever points tally. Lydia Ko became the youngest Major winner in LPGA history shooting a fantastic 63 in the final round to win by six strokes. In tennis, Flavia Pennetta won her first Grand Slam tournament, the US Open, and then announced her retirement - talk about going out at the top! England's football team qualified for the European Championship with Wayne Rooney becoming the highest English goal scorer with 50 international goals, although it's not the first time the words Rooney, scoring and over 50 have made the headlines!
You may remember my video from a couple of weeks ago when I tried out the new PING GMax iron and compared it against a slightly older model, I was pretty amazed at the results.
Well, this week saw a few members trying out the iron for themselves. This is what Tyrrells Wood member Ian Brameld had to say:
'My height dictates that I need a non-standard set up for my golf clubs so, the shaft of my driver having snapped at the kick point, I went to see Rob to get fitted for a new one. First, though, I took up his offer from last week to try out the new range of PING and Callaway irons. If, like me, you were sceptical about Rob's claims, think again.'

This week saw Jo take her first free taster sessions for ladies new to golf, an initiative aimed at encouraging women into golf. I'm pleased to say the session was a success, even the weather managed to behave itself, with the sun making a brief appearance.
On the back of the success of these sessions, Jo is running some fun and social group lessons.
We're keen for this group to be very social and fun and are hoping to be able to run two weekly sessions on a Monday and Saturday morning.
The group will run weekly and you sign up each week, very much like how you would sign up to a class at the gym, there is no commitment to a six or 10 week block of lessons. These will run at a cost of £10 per session which includes a coffee.
If you would like to sign up to the taster sessions please contact the pro shop and we can sign you up. Get in touch here or click here to watch England Golf's This Girls Golf video.
