If you haven't been up to the Club recently you really are missing out! The course is looking fantastic as you can see from this picture looking back down the 6th hole. I hope to see you out there very soon!
I'm sure a lot of you managed to watch some of the European Tour golf last week at Woburn. As you may be aware, Woburn is where our Course Manager Paul Sheather worked before Tyrrells. He spent some of last week back up there helping to prepare the golf course for the event. The course looked impressive on TV especially when you consider it's October in the UK!
It was fitting that young Matthew Fitzpatrick won his first Tour event, jumping up to number 59 in the world rankings - he's now the youngest player (21-years-old - although he looks 15!) in the top 100 - and to the top of the Ryder Cup European Points List.
I felt the odd one out this week in the shop after Jo's and Chris' lovely new golf shoes were delivered - I'll let you decide whose is whose!! You can tell just by the colour who's planning on being down the middle of the fairway!
Thank you to all members who replied to my request for feedback with regards to Finals Day. This was discussed at some length at the Captain's Committee on Monday evening. I hope to bring you more details over the winter. Fingers crossed for next year!
The next 10 days at Tyrrells Wood are as follows:
Sun 11 Oct - Many congratulations to Elliott Perrett who won the Peter Earle Masters with a nett 69. Steve Thorn just missed out on top spot on countback. The Peter Earle Masters Bowl was presented by Peter Earle in 1979 to find a Champion of Champions and is one of the most prestigious competitions played for. Please click here for the full results.
Sun 11 Oct - Well played Naz Pascal who won the Club Stableford with 42 points, Tom Waugh finished in second place with 41. Please click here for the full results.
Mon 12 Oct - Well played Mario Viscione who won the Club Medal with a nett 75, just finishing ahead of David Shannon on countback. Please click here for the full results.
