Last Friday Tyrrells hosted its annual Men's Dinner. We had a great evening and I hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves. The trophies were presented to the winners by the Captain, the food was excellent and the after dinner speaker, Ian Irving, was very funny. I just can't understand why my head felt so bad the following morning…. Hmmmmm!
Gary King (who is a past member and Club Champion at Tyrrells Wood, but now attached to the club) is competing in one of toughest competitions in the world - the dreaded Tour School! Only the top 25 golfers after this six round competition will gain a European Tour Card for next season.
At the time of writing this, Gary is tied for 8th position with just two rounds to go. You can follow his progress here. Keep it going, Gary!
I'm very pleased (and slightly relieved!) to inform you all that your Captain and Pro maintained their 100% record in the Cameron Cup last week after a challenge from Phil Diamond and Kevin Johnston. It wasn't your typical match, we were up early and then almost lost it on the back nine with Phil playing some great shots plus a rather embarrassing tee shot from me on 13! We eventually closed the match out on the 17th green for a 2&1 win. Gary Dunford and Brent Hearne are up this weekend …… watch this space!
Stevenson Cup dates released
Your Vice-Captain and Assistant Professional invite you to challenge them to a fourball betterball match. Handicap allowance is the usual three-quarter. The match fee is £15 per person, however if Jo loses the match she'll donate her fee to the Captain's Charity. The lucky few pairs that beat Stuart and Jo will qualify for the knockout stages for The Stevenson Cup. The final of which will be played on Finals Day in September, the winners also qualify for the Peter Earle Masters. You can sign in the gents changing room or by clicking here.
